Michael Lechner is professor of Econometrics at the University of St. Gallen (since 1998). He is a member of the German Academy of Science Leopoldina and a Research Fellow at various scientific organisations, like the Centre for Economic Policy Analysis in London among others. He also published in many international scientific journals, served on various editorial boards and boards of various scientific organisations, and was the principal investigator on several research projects funded by scientific and public organisations. His research interests are in the application of advanced econometric models, such as causal machine learning estimators, to improve the quality and usefulness of empirical studies, particularly in the fields of labour and sports economics.
